Pictus is mostly intended for previewing images. Additionally, it lets you make simple changes to your pictures. It supports a wide range of formats, including BMP, GIF, JPG, PCX, PNG, PSD, PSP, TGA, TIFF, WBMP, WEBP and XYZ. Moreover, installing the program allows Windows Explorer generate thumbnails for some otherwise unsupported formats.
The tool’s interface is very minimalistic. All the space in its window is devoted to previewing the contents of the imported image. Then, most of the operations are performed via the context menu. Luckily, dragging and dropping the files you want to open onto its window is supported.
As said, Pictus supports previewing images with the possibility of adjusting the zoom level according to your needs. Regrettably, you cannot view more than one picture at a time. Neither does it let you browse through a group of pictures.
A quick look at the entries available from the program’s context menu can give you an idea of what it can do. First, there is the option of changing a picture’s orientation, adjusting such parameters as brightness, contrast and gamma, as well as renaming the files. Moreover, you can set your favorite image as wallpaper.
All in all, Pictus can come in handy if you need to work with multiple pictures. Regrettably, I think you can find better similar tools out there. The product can be downloaded from the developer’s site at no cost. There are versions for 64-bit and 32-bit systems.
